Tenant or landlord shall pay for Indah Water sewerage bills?

Who shall pay for the Indah Water sewerage bills?

This is a very common question raised by both landlords and tenants.

The answer is tenants as sewerage services or treatments are only required when the premise is tenanted. Indah Water sewerage bills is kind of utilities bills.

Let's refer to the first point:
·         Premises, which has been vacant for more than 6 months is eligible for a waiver of the sewerage charges. However, you have to fax (03-2095 6002) to us a water ‘Statement of A/C’ showing not more than (3m3) usage during the vacant period. Please don’t forget to write your ‘Sewerage A/C Number’ on the document(s).

It said if the premise has been vacant for more than 6 months, the sewerage charges can be waived.
At the other side, it means when tenants occupy the unit, the IWK bills during the tenancy period shall be borne by the tenants.

However, to prevent dispute, both tenants and landlords shall agree upon and iron up in the tenancy agreement.
